Senegal have won the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) 1-0 against hosts Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Pape Gueye scored the only goal of the game with a thumping strike into the top corner in extra time.
It was Senegal’s second Afcon title.
Senegal have reached Afcon final four times (2002, 2019, 2021, and 2025/2026). Senegal were playing in their fourth Afcon final and first since 2021, while Morocco were contesting their second Afcon final and first since 2004.
There were unprecedented scenes in second-half stoppage time as Real Madrid striker Brahim Diaz missed a controversial penalty, which was awarded on VAR review after he was judged to have been fouled by El Hadji Malick Diouf.
Senegal players left the field in protest at that decision and after a premature decision ensured VAR could not intervene when Ismaila Sarr thought he had given his side the lead moments before.
