Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed apparel retailer, Edgars Stores has embarked on an aggressive drive to expand its branch network as the fashion retailer seeks to boost is revenue following a Covid-19 induced economic contraction.
The retailer has plans to end the year on a high note after it opened its new concept store at Avondale Shopping Centre in Harare.
Premiered as a ‘World Class Shopping experience”, the Avondale store is a step up from the current nationwide footprint of 25 branches.
According to the retail shop, the new branch represents an exciting store format, featuring new lighting enhancement, sleek and contemporary architecture, presenting the ultimate shopping indulgence.
With some key retailers being housed at the shopping centre, the location is strategic as the area enjoys high traffic volumes throughout the week. This will see the brand further consolidating its market positioning, in the affluent Harare catchment areas.
The store location will further expand Edgars’ local presence, offering customers interactive shopping and unique omni-channel experiences, given that Edgars already offers online and Whatsapp shopping options.
Taking into consideration the quintessential shopper who is looking for retail convenience, the modern outlet will feature a wide variety of upmarket signature footwear, outerwear, accessories and beauty products”, the company said in a statement.
“On offer will be a wide assortment of merchandise from the Edgars inhouse brands such as Signature, D.66, Charter Club, Kelso, Merien Hall, Penny C, New Wave, Free 2 B U to name a few.
Of note, the new store will usher in a strong resurgence of the beloved Faith wear range of trendy clothes, which is part of the growing list of the Edgars in-house brands. With Avondale, being the go-to Faith wear destination, it was only fitting that the youthful brand be housed at the branch. Faithwear merchandise is also available in other select Edgars stores.
To augment the customer`s shopping experience the store also has a thriving WhatsApp shopping platform complementing the established e-commerce site that has served the brand well during the last 12 months. In a time where the pandemic was at its worst, the two did well to support existing brick and mortar stores.”
