Magistrate Collet Ncube sentences Senator Jameson Timba & Jaison Kautsa to 2 years imprisonment, wholly suspended for 5 years on condition that they don’t commit an offence that involves an illegal gathering with the intent to promote public violence.
The group was found guilty of the offences on Friday and were supposed to have been sentenced on Monday, but, the matter was rolled to Wednesday 27 November 2024.
Other Harare residents, who include 8 women have been sentenced to 14 months imprisonment, wholly suspended for 5 years on condition that they don’t commit an offence that involves an illegal gathering with the intent to promote public violence.
Harare resident, Tambudzai Makororo, has been remanded to 11 December. Her trial is yet to commence.
Timba and his co accused were arrested on 16 June 2024 where they were commemorating the day of the African Child at Timba’s residence in Avondale.
