With Masvingo, Midlands, Mashonaland East, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Manicaland now in the bag, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has secured a majority of Zanu PF provinces which have endorsed him to stay beyond his constitutional term limit in 2018 to 2030.
It’s now a formality for the others, including Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West, Harare and Bulawayo will follow suit.
This has set the stage for a major political showdown between Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga and his military-backed faction who has a strong political ambition to succeed him.
