President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu PF are stampeding to extract populist capital out of the assassination attempt on former United States president Donald Trump three days ago while on a campaign rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, ahead of the 5 November presidential election by pretending to be concerned about political violence and protection of life, in a stunning display of hypocrisy by people whose history and record are soaked in blood of innocent people. Zimbabwean elections have always been characterised by political violence, killings and intimidation perpetrated by Zanu PF and its leaders.
