“Striking UZ lecturer is no longer a serving member of the AirForce,” ZDF

The Zimbabwe Defence Forces has distanced itself from the actions of former Air Force of Zimbabwe retired Group Captain Boncase Mwakorera who was arrested yesterday together with colleagues from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) for a strike over salaries and working conditions.

Three UZ academics were arrested over the strike.

The lecturers are demanding that their salaries be reinstated to pre-October 2018 levels of US$2 250 a month for juniors.

They are currently earning US$230 a month, plus a local currency component of not more than ZiG8000 (less than US$200).
