Wicknell Chivayo’s ex-wife, Sonja Madzikanda, and her mother, Tabitha Madzikanda, are back in court today for bail ruling.
The duo was remanded in custody to today on charges of cyberbullying and harassment of Mr Chivayo.
They appeared before Harare magistrate Nyaradzo Manokore yesterday on charges of cyberbullying and harassment.
The State, represented by Monalisa Magwenzi, had indicated that it was not opposed to bail, but Magistrate Manokore questioned the consent because the State, in its papers, had indicated their intention to oppose bail.
The magistrate asked the State to justify the new position, which prompted her to roll over the matter to today to allow her time to go through the proceedings.
The State alleges that during the marriage of Mr Chivayo and Sonja Madzikanda, she unlawfully accessed his cellphone and downloaded several photographs and videos and shared them with her mother.
The State further alleges that she and her mother used artificial intelligence to generate photographs purporting that Chivayo once associated with the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa.
It is the State’s case that the two unlawfully published photographs and videos which went viral on various social media platforms.
This reportedly caused Chivayo substantial emotional distress and humiliation.
