CONSTRUCTION of Zimbabwe’s new imposing six-storey Parliament Building in Mt Hampden is almost complete, with contractors estimating that 95% of the project has been done.
Work is continuing on two remaining floors.
The project is being implemented by top Chinese firm Shanghai Construction Group and is being funded by the Chinese government through China Aid.
It will house both the National Assembly and the Senate.
It consists of two conference centres, each with a capacity to accommodate 350 people, a banquet hall capable of accommodating 1 000 people, offices for parliamentary officers, and many boardrooms for parliamentary committee sessions as well as parking space.–Staff Writer.
