A NEW play, Beautiful Man, opened this week at Jasen Mphepo’s Little Theatre starring veteran stage and screen actor Jasen Mphepo and Farirai Borerwe.

The two-hander sets out to show the truth about men’s personal life experiences through a compelling theatrical journey of emotions and vulnerability.
And like most plays that feature Mphepo, thespians are assured of laugh-out-loud and soul-searching moments.
The play has brought to life the otherwise quiet spell in local theatre as Mphepo, a veteran in his own right, stars in this epic play featuring a young and energetic creative, Borerwe.
Announcing his return, Mphepo said: “Whenever l take to the stage, l always make sure that l enjoy myself. I have always performed with creatives my age or older veterans, and this shall be my first theatre production performing with a young energetic creative.
“Join Farie Clarence Borerwe and myself in this epic play directed by Tafadzwa Bob Mutumbi, as we discuss men’s stories through theatre. Come to the Jasen Mphepo little theatre.”
Borerwe grew up in Harare and Chitungwiza and later moved to Mutare with his family.
Although he was passionate about acting during his high school days at Bernard Mizeki College, the journey as a theatre practitioner began in 2012.
He enrolled at the University of Zimbabwe studying Theatre And Film and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Theatre and Film.
Borerwe’s first acting role came in 2014 when he appeared in a series, Short and Sweet, during the Harare International Festival of the Arts in 2014.
He then appeared in a number of other productions, including Man on the Poster and The Joys of Fatherhood.
Borerwe’s breakthrough role came in 2018 when he appeared in the movie Goodman which earned him critical acclaim and a Best Movie nomination with the National Arts Merit Awards. Since then, he has appeared in numerous films, television shows and stage productions.
He is known for his versatility as an actor and has played a wide range of characters.
Borerwe has received two awards and two nominations for his work. In addition to acting, Borerwe is also involved in community development work and he has been recognized for his philanthropic work at Patsime Trust. Overally, Borerwe is a talented and accomplished actor who has made a significant impact on the entertainment industry.
