South African KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has a groundswell of public support after confronting Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection Shadrack Sibiya accusing them of links to crime syndicates and drug trafficking cartels.

STATEMENT OF SUPPORT AND CALL FOR ACTION

The Concerned Citizens of South Africa (CCSA) stand in unwavering support of Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the dedicated and courageous Provincial Police Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, who has bravely spoken out against corruption, interference, and criminal collusion within our law enforcement and political institutions.

We commend Lt-Gen Mkhwanazi for his integrity, commitment to justice, and his willingness to risk personal safety to expose the truth about the threats to our democracy and the safety of South Africans. His revelations highlight the urgent need for transparency, accountability, and genuine reform within the South African Police Service and our government.

We unequivocally support Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and call for the following actions:

  • Immediate suspension of Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, pending a thorough, independent investigation into allegations of interference in police operations, abuse of power, and involvement in criminal activities linked to political and criminal syndicates.
  • Enhanced security measures for Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi to ensure his safety and protection as he continues to expose corruption and stand for justice in our country.
  • An independent inquiry into the alleged disbandment of the political killings unit, interference in investigations, and the removal of case dockets that threaten national security and the integrity of South Africa’s law enforcement.
  • Transparency and accountability from all relevant authorities to restore public confidence in the police service and uphold the rule of law
