ZIMBABWE will hold the next general elections on August 23 after President Emmerson Mnangagwa made a presidential proclamation.
The southern African nation which is currently battling rising food prices, inflation and unemployment last had elections in 2018. Incumbent Mnangagwa, leader of the governing party, Zanu PF had a wafer thin win over his rival Nelson Chamisa, who then led the MDC-Alliance.
Chamisa now leads the Citizen’s Coalition for Change, the country’s main opposition party by numbers.-STAFF WRITER
