Shamva Mine General Manager Gift Mapakame says his gold mining operation has achieved a remarkable 1.2 million fatality-free consecutive shifts, although there have been some minor injuries, mainly first-aid cases.
Mapakame says there has been an “exponential decay” in target to reduces the rate of accidents as they have learnt from previous mistakes and improved safety.
He says the milestone reflects their work ethic and adherence to international best practices.
